boogaloo in the bronx!
In keeping with the mission of The Boogaloo Project, Boogaloo in the Bronx! was specifically created to bring multiple activities to Bronx community that will expose them to the historical, cultural and artistic significance of the genre of music known as Latin Boogaloo.
2019 was the inaugural program which brought a day of outdoor live music & dance to the community, bringing together people of all ages & backgrounds, as well as a screening of the documentary film, We Like It Like That: The Story of Latin Boogaloo.
In 2020, while the pandemic forced us to shift course, we were not to be deterred and went forth with a re-screening of the documentary film, as well as a TWO-PART panel series that discussed various facets of Latin Boogaloo. A silver lining despite a difficult time, we were able to bring the message of Boogaloo to even more people!
In 2021, Boogaloo in the Bronx came BACK! Thanks to the support of the City Artist Corps, we were ECSTATIC to bring this event back LIVE to the public!
2022, Boogaloo in the Bronx keeps getting bigger and better! In a first, BITB featured TWO bands- bringing together the best of Boogaloo and Salsa!

A First for The Boogaloo Project!

We're serious about celebrating all that is Latin Boogaloo, what inspired Boogaloo and what Boogaloo inspired!

How better to demonstrate that than by bringing the sounds of TWO amazing musical guests! In addition to the groovalicious SPANGLISH FLY, we're thrilled to announce and welcome the fabulous Avenida B to our JAM!
​
We'll have dance performances by Salsa & Hustle with L&L, Marlon International and Jess Ann Nail, YOUNG AMBITION DANCE CO., Young Ambition Student Team - Raices Latinas and Elite Stars Dance Academy.

Back to the streets! We were so excited to be able to bring BITB back to the community! Together with the Boogie Down Boogaloo Dance Project, Spanglish Fly, Young Ambition Dance Company, and Salsa & Hustle by L&L and supported by City Artist Corps - BITB2021 was an event to remember!
